Friends Only--Partially

This journal is friends-only...partially. Meaning it's not entirely friends only. Only my plotting details are kept f-locked. Still, however, I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know who you are on NaNo before friending me. Makes things more convenient. I'm TheWalkingDictionary, in case you're wondering.

I also have a writing LJ at [info]mayoisevil and a personal one at [info]writersarenuts, the latter of which is friends only. But everybody's welcome; this journal and [info]mayoisevil are just more writing-oriented than the other. :)

Well, I'm gonna be heading back home to my regular writing journal, [info]mayoisevil now. If you want to keep up with my writery endeavors, just follow me over there. :D

It's been fun. And just a few days left. Good luck to all of you who haven't gotten to the grand 50k yet. You can do it!

One last thing: If you're looking for something to do after NaNo, then check out [info]365writing (and its message board). 365 Days of Writing. Where you try to write something every single day of the year. Doesn't matter if you write 1 word, 1000 words, or any number in between or beyond. It's purpose is just to get writers into the habit of writing every day. Just go check it out, maybe mention it on your LJs if you join or like what you see, and hang out on the community and/or the board*. I'd really appreciate it if you joined[/endshamelessselfpromotion]

See ya!

This novel has officially become unsalvageable. I gained most of those words I wrote today through popping up in my novel and having a lengthy conversation with my characters about my plans for the rewrite. And I am planning on finishing off my wordcount with an in-story TGIO party. *cackles madly, then begins hitting her head repeatedly on the top of the desk*

If you see my sanity wandering around here somewhere, please send it back. No, better yet, don't. I don't think I really need it. It just holds me back.

But I have a chance at not losing! I MAY NOT LOSE AFTER ALL!!!!!! HUZZAH!!!! *jumps around joyfully and hugs everyone*

5154 words in one day. That is my best total so far this month. *grins proudly* They aren't good words, but they are words, and I definitely needed them.

Now I just need to figure out how to get that trebuchet in...

Well, I made it to 35314 today.

Well, I have started doing the obsessive padding and the Find-Replacing. All instances of "Your Highness" or "Your Majesty" are now "Your Royal Highness" or "Your Royal Majesty." Contractions have been replaced. Pointless conversations have begun. And, right now, I'm looking 35k in the eye, and I'm hoping to come by and spit in its face. I have three hours until Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. I have 34383. I can do it.

You know that last post I made about writing anything? Yeah, that was the last time I wrote anything. I am still at 33555.

...At this rate, I have no hope of winning NaNo. Someone spork me, please. *puppy eyes* And give Grey's Anatomy a good, violent spork while you're at it because it, like LJ, is part of the vast conspiracy to keep me (and others, possibly) from writing.

Oh, and Happy Turkey Day to everyone who celebrates it today.

Stayed at 33555 words yesterday.

Also, another note: Grey's Anatomy is eeevvvvviiiiillll. *growls at shiny medical shows being on DVD*

Holy Spork! I'm at 33555 now? How'd I manage to get from 32750 to 33555?

It's all junk. All these new words are nothing more than shameless wordpadding. A debate on whether rum, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is the Grand Elixer of Long, Hearty, Fun Life and a bit of a rant over the price of oil paints? How is that relevant to the plot?

You know, I don't care. I'm writing about a giant who does oil painting! How cool is that? *laughs*

...I think this is the result of having just watched Muppet Treasure Island earlier this morning. Yeah, while everyone else in my part of the world was happily asleep around two a.m., I was watching Muppet Treasure Island, and now I end up writing something crazy, wordpad-ish, and not at all relevant to my plot? That cannot possibly be a coincidence. (My sleep patterns are a such a big mess.)

But it's words! Quantity over quality, right?

My art muse came knocking today, but my writing muse is still nowhere to be found. :-/

I just have 17,250 words left. Why is it that my brain currently seems unable to come up with those 17k+ words of crap?

Day 16 Count: 0 words
Current Total: Holding steady at 32750.

That's it. I'm going for just 50k. If my profound lack of interest continues, then I'll be lucky to make it that far. Today I wrote some handwritten stuff, but not much. Will post a status report later, once I get the stuff typed up.

The weather's not helping. Thunderstorms. Lightning+computer=bad. I learned that the hard way a few years ago. Story Time: I was a big-time procrastinator in school, and I had a report due in chemistry class the next day (part of which was an oral report with no notes--which I bombed spectacularly on; I'm still surprised that I didn't make a failing grade on it, to be honest). I'd been doing some of my research last minute, and I'd disconnected from the internet because of a storm, but I didn't disconnect the phone cord from the computer. One bolt of lightning knocked out the phone--and fried the modem. I wasn't finished doing my research and ended up having to dig through some science magazines for random crap about fiber optics. And it was on a Sunday, so the library wasn't open. Because of that, my parents' computer is stuck using a modem that is supposed to be a 56k modem but only gets to about 20 something kbps. Yeah, I learned my lesson.

Wanna know how bad I've been about avoiding my writing today? I washed the dishes voluntarily. I don't do the dishes. I did the dishes today when I could've been writing. Though I suppose that's not as bad as sleeping and watching TV, which is what I did yesterday (though it would take a major catastrophe to come between me and a new episode of NCIS). At least when I was doing the dishes I was doing something productive and helpful.

...I should probably get back to writing, shouldn't I? I'm tellin' ya: LJ is part of the conspiracy to keep writers from writing.
